Q: What kind of paints do you use?
A: Almost exclusively Golden Brand paints. My clear gesso and a few of my mediums are Liquitex. My acrylic inks are a mix of F&W and Liquitex, but as those run out, I’m replacing with Golden. Golden paints have never disappointed me. (not sponsored)
Q: Heavy body? Fluids? Bodily fluids? Wait, what?
A: For mixed media, mostly fluid paints and sometimes inks. For other paintings, I often use Golden Open paints because I like the slower drying time.
Q: What else do you use?
A: Like many artists, I have at least a sampling of practically everything available at the art store, so who knows what I might use from day-to-day.
Q: Have you tried ____ ?
Q: What type of brushes do you use?
A: I have a wide eclectic assortment of brushes, both bristle and synthetic, from riggers to 3″ chip brushes. My current go-to is Silver Bristolon. I received some Rosemary & Co Brushes for Xmas last year and I really like those, too. Blick Masterstrokes are also good. Generally, I match the softness of the brush to the softness of the paint and just choose whatever will give me the shape I want to make.
Q: What type of palette do you use?
A: I prefer glass palettes, but when I’m feeling lazy I will also use the kind with tear-off disposable sheets, too.
Q: Where do you buy your art supplies?
A: Most of my supplies I order from Dick Blick online. Locally, I also go to Plaza Arts. If I need craft supplies (as opposed to ‘art’ supplies), I’ll go to either Michael’s or Joanne’s.
Q: How many projects do you have ongoing at any given moment?
A: Anywhere from 743,231 to 99,933,587,827. Give or take.
Q: Is there anything you can’t do?
A: OMG – there are SO MANY things I can’t do. But it’s one of my joys in life to always be learning and I’ll never run out of things to learn.
Q: Why don’t you use stock pictures or stock footage in your blogs or videos?
A: What’s the fun in that? Why would I pay for stock images of any kind when it’s so much more fun and authentic to make my own.
Q: Why don’t you have advertising or affiliate links on your site? Or sponsors for your videos?
A: I have in the past and may again have a few affiliate links here and there, but I don’t see myself ever having advertising or sponsors despite the money it may bring in. I’m not here for the money. I’m here to have fun and (hopefully) entertain others. Plus, I fucking HATE commercials, advertisements, and all that visual clutter and noise. I was so sad when YouTubers and Podcasters started having commercials in their productions. I know they need to make money to keep the lights on, but fucking hell people… do we never get a break from the barrage of buy this buy this buy this?
